He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Bateman and Ruth Bateman (Newland); his wife Janice; and his sister Marilynn Kuhn (Ron). He is survived by: his daughters, Sheryl Watson (John) and Jamie Appelbaum (Daniel); his granddaughters, Mia, Elisabeth and Lucy Appelbaum; his sister Beverly Gerlach (Tom); his brother-in-law Fred "Jim" Sterner (Carol); his nephews, Blake Hardcastle, Shane Hunter and Jim Sterner; his niece Melissa Sterner; and his pet Lilly Belle.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Veterans Community Project in memory of Richard.
