She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Sterner and Mildred Sterner (Darling); and her half-sister Donna Breedlove. She is survived by: her husband Richard Lee Bateman; her daughters, Sheryl Watson (John) and Jamie Appelbaum (Dan); her brother Jim Sterner (Carol); her grandchildren, Mia, Elisabeth and Lucy; her niece Melissa Sterner; her nephew James Boyd Sterner (Sophia); and her great-nephew EJ Sterner.
