Howard Shipman Obituary
Howard W. Shipman, age 94, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Belton Regional Hospital.
Memorial Services will take place at a later date.
Howard was born on October 12, 1924 in Granby, Missouri. He was the son of John Wesley Shipman and Laura Ellen Stringer. Growing up, Howard was one of eleven children.
At nineteen years of age Howard joined the United States Airforce and served as a Master Machinist which led to a life long career as a Mechanic.
In the fall of 1947, Howard was joined in marriage on October 12th with Bobbie June Howard. Together they were blessed with son, Kenneth and daughter, Debra. A Man of Baptist faith, Howard was a member of the Forest Park Baptist church for forty-two years and a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Raymore, Missouri for the past seven years. Howard continued his career as a Mechanic at Peerless Machines and for the past twenty-five years as a Supervisor at Sperry Vickers Machines where he retired in 1975. In addition to Howard's love for his career and family, he also very much enjoyed model railroads, antique cars, and fishing.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents John and Laura Shipman; nephew Charles Byrd; six brothers Opal Shipman, Kenneth Shipman, Leo Shipman, Wilber Shipman, John Shipman, and Barton Shipman; and four sisters Betty Ludy, Alberta Smith, Laura Pratt, and Helen Chew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Bobbie Shipman; son Kenneth Shipman; daughter Debra Rowe (Wayne); three grandsons Howard "HT" Thani (Stephanie), Peter Shipman (Deborah), and Mark Shipman (Anna); and eight great grandchildren Hanna, Amanda, Lily, Erin, Isaac, Dasha, Stella, and Chloe.
