He was predeceased by: his parents, Porter Morton and Beulah Morton (Latimer); his former wife Deloris; his stepdaughter Marsha Jean Vickrey; his son-in-law Carl William "Bill" Vickrey; his grandson William Russell Vickrey; and his siblings, Nadine Durrill, Shirley Finley, Dean Morton, Porter F. Morton, Wayne Morton and Melvin Morton.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his granddaughter Rachel Vickrey Rayburn (Matthew); his sister Jerry Heap Taylor; his great grandchildren, Trevor Rayburn and Ethan Rayburn; and his stepdaughters, Jennifer McCullough, Anne Davis and Amy Crunk.
Memorials are suggested to East Sedalia Baptist Church.
