He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie Elder and Anna Elder; his wife Hazel Maxine Reynolds; and his sister Avis Marshall. He is survived by: his children, John Elder and Sherry Dickelman (Bob); his grandsons, Austin Elder and Andrew Dickelman; and his siblings, Eva Henderson (Jerry) and Charles Elder (Faye).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Suncrest Home Health and Hospice Des Moines, who took special care of Harry at life's end.
