He was predeceased by: his parents, Garel M. May and Naomi May (Hodge); and his siblings, Lawrence, Harold, Kenneth May and Theresa Shutt.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Joyce Stark; his son Michael Carter (Melissa) of Lineville, IA; and his siblings, Ellen Scott of Mercer, MO, Sheila May, Karen Curnes (Chuck) and Harlen May (Dee) of Smithville, MO. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
