He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Delmer Bartsch and Dorothy Bartsch (Cocker); his wife Melody Bartsch; and his children, Diane Stegen of Minnesota, Brenda Jenkins of Eldora, Chris Bartsch of Marshalltown, Julie Hilfich of Mason City, Kelly Weis (Chris) of Des Moines, Bryan Bartsch (Rose) of Eldora and Tim Bartsch of Eldora. He was also cherished by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.
