He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Barton and Julie Parks Barton; his wife Dorothy Juliette of Old Mines; his stepmother Goldie Smith Barton; and his brother Lonnie.

He is survived by: his daughters, Betty Chazelle, Norma Maxwell and Donita Skaggs; his son-in-law Pete Skaggs; his half-sisters, Doretta Lancaster (Carl) of Berkley, MO, Dorothy Elliot of St. Louis, MO, Doshie Miner (Joe) of Boss, MO and Roselle Crocker (Reldon) of St Louis, MO; and his stepsister Lola Lancaster of Ellington, Missouri.. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
