He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Portell and Myrtle Portell (Whitter); his sisters, Glenda Kay Harmon and Bonnie Gibson; and his siblings-in-law, Barbara Emily Singer, Gloria Price, Danny Emily, Terry Emily, Clifton Gibson and Ronnie Harmon.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann (Emily); his siblings, Danny Portell, Gary Portell (Janet), Nona Thebeau (Lynn), Peggy Turnbough (Mark) and Debbie Holt; his in-laws, Sharon Minx (Wayne), Sydney Emily, Jeffrey Emily (Vickie) and Scott Emily; and his nephew Brad Minx. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, friends may send memorials to Southeast Missouri.
