He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Barks (Geri); his children, Cary Gates (Charissa), Jamie Barks and Steven Gates; his son-in-law Jamie Simpson; his grandchildren, Chelsey Waterson (Matt) of Waynesville, Missouri, Andrew Gates of Waynesville, Missouri, Abby Gates of Waynesville, Missouri, Chloe Simpson of Waynesville, Missouri, Bree Ponce of Waynesville, Missouri, Bryson Gates of Waynesville, Missouri and Braxton Gates of Waynesville, Missouri; his siblings, Bruce Owens, Ginger Collins and Joy Melton; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Dugger (Shirley) and James Dugger; his daughter Christy Simpson; his brother Benny Owens; and his in-laws, Bob and Della Dugger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home (211 W Main St, West Plains, MO 65775).
