He is survived by: his wife Karen; his daughters, Jennifer Karns (Corey) of Platte City and Megan Sams (Brad) of Excelsior Springs; his stepdaughter Brooke Peters (Rodney) of St. Joseph; his grandchildren, Tyler Karns (Annie), Collin Sams, Ethan Sams, Andy Peters, Trevor Peters (Taylor) and Madalyn Peters (Camdyn); his great grandchildren, Briar Peters, Bryndle Peters and Breightyn Peters; his sister-in-law Dr. Pamela Middleton of Louisville, KY; his sister Joanne; his brother-in-law Mike Flynn of St. Joseph; and his nephew Alex Berger.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to Children's Mercy Hospital for pediatric cancer research and Monarch Hospice.
