He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie "Durwood" Thurman and Bessie Thurman (Neal); his wife Elaine; his daughter Lisa Thomas; and his brothers, Larry, Tommy, Dennis and Donnie.
He is survived by: his daughter Verinda Rieves; his granddaughters, Devyn and Erika Rieves; and his sister Nancy Haas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
