He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynn Powery Charlton Sr. and Emma B. Rogers (Smith); his grandmother Acenia Belle Smith; his brother-in-law Bill Pewitt; and his son-in-law Jack Ruble.

He is survived by: his daughter Debbie Ruble; and his siblings, Wilma Pewitt and Edgar.
