He was predeceased by: his parents, John Phillip and Hattie Belle Lott (Hendrix); his wife Wanda Rainwater; his stepsons, Warren "Sandy" Gilliam, Ronnie Gilliam and Jerry Gilliam; his great grandchild Little John Gilliam; and his siblings, James Plunkett, Robert Bean, William "Slick" Bean, Ruby Tarkington, Addie Plunkett, Martha Bean and Myrtle Bean.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Prewitt (Jeffrey) of Piedmont; his stepson Jerry Leon Willard (Linda) of Piedmont; and his grandchildren, Keith Geer, Danny Geer, Chakina Carter and Andy Willard. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
