He was predeceased by: his wives, Alice Kiefer and Ruby Kiefer; his parents, Gilbert Kiefer and Lila Kiefer; his children, Gary Kiefer (Darleen), David Kiefer, James Kiefer, Francis Kiefer, Jay Allen Kiefer, Joseph Kiefer and Ida Mae Hardy; and his siblings, Kenneth Kiefer and Mary Lou Mildon.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Wagenblast, Stephen Kiefer (Kathy), Phillip Kiefer (Rosita), Agnes Marie Lugwig (Roy), Gerald Kiefer (Terre), Kenneth Kiefer and Lisa McClure Ferguson (Jeffrey); and his sister Verla Henson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Assumption Catholic Church (403 N Main St, O'Fallon, MO 63366). A burial was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery (403 N Main St, O'Fallon, MO 63366).
Memorials may be made in Russell's name to Masses (Assumption Church – O'Fallon (https://assumptionbvm.org) or St. Vincent DePaul - Perryville).
