He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny R. Ellis and Carolyn Ellis (Thurman); and his grandparents, John Ellis, Mable Williams, Louise Kroeck and Luther Thurman.

He is survived by: his sisters, Earllena Robinson (John) and Tiffney Ellis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
