He is survived by: his wife Karen Painter of Pacific; his siblings, Jim Painter of Pacific and Dottie Flannery (Tom) of St. Louis; his children, Michael, Stephen Painter of St. Louis, David Painter (Abby) of Union, Mary Painter, Teresa Painter of St. Louis, Monica Uhlmansiek (Matt) of St. Louis and Andrea Painter of North Carolina; his stepchild Angel Sherman (family: Amanda Yahl, Melissa Whitlock); and his grandchildren, Austin, Mia Sherman, Blake, Owen, Elijah Whitlock, Cecelia, Daniel, Eric Painter, Oswin, Imogen Uhlmansiek and Myles Breckenridge. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Memorial donations can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Bridget's, St. Bridget's School, or St. John's Gildehaus School.
