She was predeceased by: her parents, Jewel Kester and Goldie Kester (Woods); her former husband Lloyd T. Lathrop; her husband Leon B. Spell; her sons, Jarone Dale Lathrop and Steven Kent Lathrop; and her brother William Isaac Kester.

She is survived by: her daughter Gaytha Anderson (David); her daughter-in-law Jonita Lathrop; her grandchildren, Alicia Hicks, Kecia Maxwell (David), Elizabeth Hatton (Dalton), Devery Hoppe, Jay Lathrop and Amanda Lisk (Justin); and her siblings, Howard Kester (Dottie), Paul Kester (Lois), Lorene Lawrence, Nancy Cook (Lester) and Glenda Floyd. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
