He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward McKelvey and Myrtie McKelvey (Clopton); his adoptive parents, Margaret Tartar and Rex Tartar; his wife Barbara Lee Melton; his daughter Andrea Tartar; and his siblings, Joe McKelvey, Mary Lou Klenklen (Vern), Roxie Johnson (Ronnie), Nixie Buffington, Guy LaVerne Tartar (Grace), Wilbur Richardson, Carl Richardson, Paul Richardson (Ruby Mae), James Richardson and Johnny McKelvey.
He is survived by: his daughters, Angie Tartar and Jayelee Tartar (Shane); and his brother Ronnie Tartar (Mary). He is also survived by two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
