He was predeceased by: his son Bobby Jones; his parents, Edgar Atchison and Mary Atchison; and his brothers, Wayne Atchison and Leonard Atchison.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Atchison; his children, Elaine Gossett (late Robin), Ricky Jones (Diane), Pam Maze (Michael), Donna Jones, Jo Shaw (Coy), Sandra Henrich (Chris) and Nancy Pantoja (Bob); and his sister Charlene Huskey.
