He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ives and Dora McFail (Carver); and his siblings, Teddy, Glen, Jessie McFail, Jim Garrigus, Mattie Joyce McFail, Rosie Carver, Betty Hughes and Mitzie Gildersleeve.
He is survived by: his former wife Janis Green; his wife Alma J. Ramey; his sons, Willie McFail (Marie) of Sedalia and Charlie McFail (Darcy) of Sedalia; his stepchildren, Jason Rowlette (Holly) of Lee's Summit, Corey Rowlette of Otterville and Samantha Lang (Fred) of Cole Camp; and his brother John McFail (Wilma) of Houstonia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
