He was predeceased by: his daughter Cathleen Matthews Lowe; and his grandson Jonah Brett. He is survived by: his wife Katie Matthews (Katie); his brother Henry Matthews (Mary) of Warrenton, Missouri; his children, Chuck Matthews of Mexico, Missouri, David Brett of Winfield, Missouri, Christy Matthews Early (Chuck) of Mexico, Missouri and Karen Matthews Elliott (Michael) of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and his granddaughters, Valerie Hickman, Kaleana Wright, Amanda Startzman, Amanda Lowe, Chelsea Early, Cassie Early, Jennifer Matthews and Christeena Matthews. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope House of Miller County.
