He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Church; his spouse Joan Hunt; his children, Remington Koons (Jennifer), Jason Koons (Sherry), William D. Hunt III (Mackenzie) and Christina Kappauff (Steven); his siblings, Kathy Schroeder (Gene), Susan Piper (Harold), Gregory Hunt, Tim Hunt (Bev) and Patrick Hunt; his grandchildren, Amber Koons, Curt Bennett (Laura), Jackie Koons, Josie Koons, Zack Lewis, Ronald Lewis, Alexis Koons, Kazia Rudie, Max Hunt, Alexandria Kappauff and Steven Kappauff Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Faith, Aurora, Olivia and Hadlie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Mission 22 (Veteran Suicide) or to the Humane Society.
