He was predeceased by: his spouse Michele "Mickey" Sandmel; his parents, Jean Sandmel and Abraham Sandmel; and his siblings, Zelda Glazer (late Herb) and Harold Sandmel (Barbara).

He is survived by: his children, Ben Sandmel, Karin Sandmel and Joshua Sandmel; and his sister-in-law Vicki Butery (Rick).

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Berger Memorial Chapel (9430 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
