Leonssia Anguelova Beisheim Obituary
Leonssia Anguelova Beisheim, age 57, of Olivette, Missouri passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Leonssia was born December 30, 1963, to Angel Hristov and Yanka Hristova in Sofia, Bulgaria. Yanka survives. She is survived by: her loving husband Walter Joseph Beisheim; her children: Iavora Vlaytcheva, Margaret ("Maggie") Vlaytcheva, and Abigail Beisheim; her stepchildren: Madison Berry, Robert Beisheim, Lindsay McChesney, Michael Beisheim, Benjamin ("Ben") Beisheim, and Cassandra ("Cassie") Beisheim; her sister Bilyana Georgieva (Angel); and many other extended family members and friends.
Leonssia first completed her training as a Medical Doctor, and upon her emigration to the United States, subsequently received a Master's degree followed by a PhD in Molecular Biology, with a specialization in Virology. She was awarded her PhD from St. Louis University. She later completed Post-Doctoral studies at Stanford University at Palo Alto, CA.
During her career as an accomplished research scientist Leonssia performed multiple investigations into novel therapeutic and other vaccines in the field of HIV/HCV infections. In addition to her scientific and academic accomplishments, Leonssia was a brilliant and exceptionally creative artist. Her family is blessed to possess the many artistic pieces Leonssia created during her lifetime.
Leonssia was an animal lover who regularly devoted her time to caring for her own pets, as well as local rescues. Consequently, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Missouri.
