He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Balk and Esther Balk; and his siblings, Edwin Balk (late Rose Balk) and Myrna Balk (late Ramon Greenberg). He is survived by: his wife Susan Margolis Winter Balk; his children, Mindy Maloney (Richard), Jay Balk (Jill Alexander) and Steven Balk (Dierdre McManus); his grandchildren, Allison Maloney (Matt Parmenter), Sam Maloney (Stephanie Vincent), Emily Balk (Kyle Treleaven), Rebbeca Balk and Suzanne Balk; and his great grandchildren, Landon, Calder and Nolan Maloney.

Visitation was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Berger Memorial Chapel (9430 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
