He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hunsel and Alma Hunsel; his siblings, Robert Hunsel and Linda Burkemper (Robert); and his brother-in-law Steven Matukaites.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Hunsel; his daughters, Dawn Pruitt (Scott), Tonia Seavey O'Neal, Amy Kinzel (Charles) and Missy Diveley (Anthony); his grandchildren, Alix Smith (Andrew), Logan Graham (Isaiah), Anthony Diveley, Carmen Kinzel and Charles Kinzel; his great grandchild Spencer Graham; his siblings, Elizabeth Westhoff (Leonard), Alice Matukaites, Charles Hunsel (Joyce), Mary Ann and James Hunsel (Patricia); and his siblings-in-law, Keith Westhoff and Barb Hunsel.
