He is survived by: his wife Edith Rice (Edie); his sons, Michael Whitten (Lori) of The Lake and Derrick Smith (Christie) of Raymore; his grandchildren, Alex Smith, Vance Whitten, Jenna Keefhaver, Kaden, Kale and Kyler Smith; and his siblings, Denise Smith and Wesley Smith. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
