He was predeceased by : his parents, John Christian and Anna Marie Madsen (Petersen); and his sister Thelma Lindsay. He is survived by : his wife Barbara Madsen of Odessa; his children, Brent Madsen (Bessie) of Odessa, Brian Madsen (Brenda) of Odessa, Becky Ford (Darin) of Odessa and Betsy MacLaughlin (Brad) of Odessa; his grandchildren, Brady Madsen (Sarah), Brendan Madsen (Nicole), Thad Madsen (Megan), Leah Raymond (Cole), Blake Ford (Krysten Smith), Madisen Ford, Anna MacLaughlin, Ellie MacLaughlin and Luke MacLaughlin; his great grandchildren, Delaney, Ada and Emma Madsen; and his brother John Madsen (Karen) of Blue Springs. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a local charity of donor's choice.
