He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Barkus and Elizabeth Barkus (Kurela); his daughters, Sarah and Mary; and his brother William Barkus.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Barkus; his children, Robert Barkus Jr. of Oak Grove, David Barkus (Kathy) of Lawrence, KS, Susan Barkus (Scott) of Williamsburg, VA and Carol Ann Turner (Mike) of Leavenworth, KS; and his grandchildren, Matt Barkus, Joshua Barkus, Anna Barkus-Hough and Aris Barkus-Hough.
