It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Fern Verlee (Dixon) Smith (Oak Grove, Missouri), born in Belleville, Illinois, who passed away on February 13, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Harmon Dixon and Cleonia Sarah Dixon; her husband Roscoe Smith; her daughter Cleta Darlene Rhoden; her son-in-law Ric Courtois; and her siblings, Lyman, Everett, Darrell Dixon, Hazel Maddy and Cleta Lewis.
She is survived by: her former husbands, Clarence Leo Cates and James Fischer; her daughters, Carolyn Courtois of St. James, MO and Norma Plymale (Robert) of Leasburg, MO; and her grandchildren, Theodore Schuermann, Lena of St. Clair, MO, Matt Courtois of St. James, J. Kathryn Delmain, Dennis of Villa Ridge, MO, Mark Courtois (Kathy) of St. James, Christopher Courtois (Sheli) of St. James, Stacie Plymale of Leasburg and Wesley Plymale of Leasburg. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
