She was predeceased by: her husband Walt Carpenter; her parents, Everett McNutt and Dolly McNutt; and her sister Edna Pickett. She is survived by: her children, Walter Carpenter (Jan) and Cathy Custer (Randy); her grandsons, Chad Carpenter and Joseph Carpenter; and her brother Everett McNutt. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.
