He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Elliott and Alberta Ethel Shepherd; his brothers, Virgil "Pete" Shepherd and Donald Shepherd; his son William H. "Butchie" Shepherd, Jr.; and his grandson Nathaniel Shepherd.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie E. Deerwester; his daughters, Tina Ross (Carl), Christina Kisner, Shari Gordon (Marvin), Cindy Cotner, Shirley Il and Sandy Moore (Jackie); and his siblings, David "Tuffy" Shepherd (Lily), Clinton and Phyllis Shepherd. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren.
