Gordon Goddard Obituary
Gordon Goddard, 88, of Smithville, MO passed away on March 8th, 2024 at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.
Born in 1935, Gordon was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, calling Smithville home for the past 35 years.
Gordon met the love of his life, Rosalie (Rose) Fiorella, in junior high school. They married in 1954 and went on to have 3 children: Karen Martinez (Michael), Mark Goddard, and Kim Myers (Dave).
Gordon served with the Coast Guard in Korea. After his military service, he worked various jobs, including positions at Hamms and Chezik Buick/Honda. Throughout that time, he also worked as a highly coveted dog trainer who specialized in training hunting dogs. Later, he and Rose took on the challenge of owning and operating The Town Tavern in Smithville, where they became beloved members of the local community.
In his downtime, Gordon loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing poker. He was a man of simple pleasures and practical pursuits. He was also an avid animal lover.
Gordon is survived by his sister Sharon Forshay (Clarence), his three children: Karen Martinez, Mark Goddard, and Kim Myers (Dave); 8 grandchildren: Keith Martinez (Melissa), Lauren Harak (Ethan), Nick Martinez (Lisa), Jared Goddard, Corey Goddard, Michelle Schuessler (Jim), Jeremy Myers (Reagan) and Zac Myers; and 9 great-grandchildren: Meredith & Kaylee Martinez, Kellan & Brahm Martinez, Madison & Zachary Phillips, Cecelia & Evie Myers, and Gabriella Myers, as well as his cat (Willow) and two great-granddogs (Lola Rose and Atticus) who loved him dearly.
