He was predeceased by: his parents, Brack Coomer and Zanna Coomer; his wife Brenda Coomer; his sons, David Coomer and Dennis Coomer; his sister Edna Hardin; his niece Francine Dabbs; and his brothers, Ernie Coomer and Jack Coomer.

He is survived by: his children, Howard D. Coomer, Jr., Jeffrey Coomer, Bryan Coomer, Tracey Sullivan, Debbie Morrison and Margie Matlock; his nephew James Hardin (Ann); and his nieces, Sharlene Osborne and Christine Nielsen. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
