Elizabeth Sollesnes Obituary

Elizabeth Mary Sollesnes, 78, Nixa MO, passed away on August 12, 2020, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield MO. She lived with her son-in-law Carl and her daughter Doreen after she moved from South Carolina last year.

Elizabeth was born on April 28, 1942 in Whiteinch, Glasgow, Scotland, to Robert and Rachel Irwin. Elizabeth immigrated to the United States in 1961. She met John Sollesnes soon after and they married. Elizabeth was a wife and homemaker. John and Elizabeth separated after 27 years together and remained close until John's passing in 2012. She had six children: Maryanne Elizabeth, John Joseph, Doreen Frances, Ruthanne Marie, John Robert, and Kathleen Lynn. She had six grandchildren: Kerrick, Kylie, Haley, Megan, Alyssa, and Jacob. She had two great-grandchildren: Brayden and Darren.

Elizabeth is survived by her brother John, and her sisters Janet and Ruth. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Rachel Irwin (nee Tait), her brothers Robert and Joseph, her sister May, and her infant son John Joseph (who lived for a few hours, was baptised, and now rests with the Lord).

The funeral Mass for Elizabeth will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 11:00 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Springfield, MO. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery will follow the Mass with a reception at St. Elizabeth following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Elizabeth's name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's research hospital.
