He was predeceased by: his father Luther Prater; his siblings, Bernice Bailey, Loretta McPhail, Ernest Conner and L. C. Prater; and his children, Frieda Morris and Bill Prater, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Vida Prater; his sons, Tim Prater (Bonnie) and John Prater; his grandchildren, Danielle Koelzer (Blake), Rachel Morris, Angelina Morris, Sean Prater, Nathan Prater, Cassandra Prater and Mackenzie Prater; his niece Fran Ryan; and his nephews, Mike Bailey and Rod Bailey.
