He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter J. Reel and Mary Ann Reel; his stepmother Jean Reel; and his parents-in-law, Dallas and Bernita Mayfield.

He is survived by: his wife Catherine "Cathy" Reel of Defiance, Missouri; his sons, Curtis Reel (Shannan) and Timmy Reel (Mariah); his siblings, Danny Reel, Kenneth Reel (Judy) and Susanne Roethler; his nieces and nephews, Brittney Donovan (Chris), Danielle Alsup (Alex), Nichole Swanson (Ryan), Meghan Reel, Eric, Kenneth Reel Jr. (Sarah), Joshua Reel (Katie), Jacob Reel and Loria Carnefix; his grandchildren, Curtis Joseph "C. J." Reel, Jr., Jamison Moore, Henry Reel, Scarlett Jinkerson and Charlotte Reel; and his sister-in-law Linda Jean Carnefix. He is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
