He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Richard "Dick" Smart and Julia Ann Smart (Glennen). He is survived by: his wife Helen; his children, John Smart (Corrine) of New Bloomfield and Kathy Gerlach (Russell) of Jamestown; his sister Nellie Hosp; his sister-in-law Barbara Knife; his grandchildren, Bethany Smart and Daniel Smart; his nephews, Larry Knife, David Knife and Ken Hosp; his niece Linda Anderson; his brother Samuel Smart; and his brothers-in-law, Howard Hosp and Russell Knife.
