He was predeceased by: his parents, James Finis and Margie Louise Vinyard (Sanders); his daughters, Bridgette Lynn Vinyard and Jeanette D. Vinyard; and his sister Shirley Elizabeth Brown (Lonnie Jo Jenkins).

He is survived by: his wife Melodie Vinyard of New Bloomfield; his son James Allen Vinyard, Jr. (Lynie) of Tipton; and his siblings, Bruce Albert Henzler of Jefferson City, Mary Elizabeth Iliff (Thomas) of Sedalia, Kenneth Wayne Vinyard of Sedalia, Roger Dale Vinyard of Sedalia, Jim and Tracy Vaughan of Jefferson City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (https://www.vvmf.org).
