He was predeceased by: his parents, Darrell Ray and Atha Yvonne Akers (Cunning); his wife Virginia Lee Haynie; and his siblings, Roland Akers, Phyllis Akers, Wylene Barker, Donna Burns and Dwylah McColm.
He is survived by: his children, Randy Akers (Claudia) and Robin Berry (Daryl) of Blue Springs, MO; his grandchildren, Jeremy Akers (Ashley Bare) of Overland Park, KS, William Saunders (Teresa), Jesse Akers (Abbey Gavin), Jackie Wheeler (Tyler) of Independence, MO, Jeremy Berry of Blue Springs, MO and Jeffrey Berry of Warrensburg, MO; his great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Ethan, Charlie, Dylan, Khloe, Brady and Daisy; and his siblings, Karen Withington of Maryville, MO, Patricia Johnson (Eddie) of Corning, IA and Dennis Akers (Rita) of Shenandoah, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
