She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis WilliamandJosephine Ruby Hamlett (Lamke) and Josephine Hamlett; her husband Henry Abner Smith; and her siblings, Bonnie Hamlett-Bourland, Faylon Griggs, Chester Dale New, Jerry New, Joe Wilkin and Charles New.
She is survived by: her daughter Heather Gaither; her grandsons, Jordan Fritts (Courtney) and Shane Fritts (Amiya); her great grandchildren, Ryder, Otis, Hudson and Maverick; her siblings, Brenda Masur (Randy), Bruce Hamlett (Terri Starbuck), Betty Robbins (Darryl), Lona Fritter Fraser (JD) and Carl New (Mary); and her sister-in-law Cheryl Griggs. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ferry Funeral Home (301 S Washington St, Nevada, MO 64772). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
