She is survived by: her children, Hailey and Owen Smith; her husband Kevin Smith; her sister Amanda Hunter; her nieces and nephews, Aiden, Kaden and Jaxson; her grandfather Butch Alberty; her aunts, Paula Stuckman and Stephanie Jones; her cousins, Brandon Alberty and MeChele Burk; her parents-in-law, Susan and Denny LaBantschnig; her brother-in-law Michael Smith (Erin Crandall); and her nieces and nephews, Gabe, Maddox and Anna-Cate.
Contributions in memory of Melanie can be made to the Neosho Junior High Cheerleading Club or the Neosho Shriner's Club Traveling Fund, honoring her passion for education and community.
