He is survived by: his wife Amanda Snyder; his sons, Jesse, Amos, Josh, Matt and Aaron Ames; his siblings, Ted, Charles Ames, Mary Mills and Diana Ames; and his grandchildren, Zachary and Sissy. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
