James Bowness Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Bowness of Mound City, Missouri, born in Fairfax, Missouri, who passed away on May 29, 2024, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid adieu to James' earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration James has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Phillip Bowness and Joan Bowness (Burke); his children, Katharyn of Kansas City, KS and Jackson (Aubrey) of Fairfax, MO; his wife Angie; his child Dallas Mueller Smith (JC) of St. Joseph, MO; his siblings, Christina Bowness Webster (Kevin) of Mound City and Kevin Bowness of St. Joseph, MO; and his grandson Landen Heming. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Sharon Shutts wrote a sympathy message

“I'd like to express my deepest condolences to Jim's family. His mother, Joan, was one of my closest cousins during the years we were growing up. I recall Jim as a little boy, but lost contact as he reached adulthood. I hope the family will find comfort in their memories of him.”
