He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester A. Gilland and Dorothy F. Gilland (Rowlett); his stepson R. Layne Vest; and his brother Max A. Gilland. He is survived by: his spouse Kay Vest (Patterson); his daughters, Stacy Albarran of San Diego and Stephanie Perry of Columbia, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Brian, Madelynn, Morgan, Addison Perry, Mayela, Fiama, Solis and Ameca Albarran. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
