He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Burton and Violet Burton (Cato); his wife Hazel Christine Freeman; his son Delotes Burton (Dodie); his grandson Justin Lee Curd; his great grandchild Kaleb Burton; and his nephew Ronnie Towe.

He is survived by: his daughter Sheila Stratton (Ronald) of Dexter, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Jason Burton (Jennifer) of Morehouse, Pamela Cross (Chris) of Puxico, Missouri, Jami Greer (Ryan) of Navarre, Florida, Jeffery Stratton (Amanda) of Quilin, Missouri and Josh Appleton of Dexter.
