He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayland Spencer and Cora Mae Sumpter (Coliver); his wife Nina Sue Neal; his daughter Shauna Hoefelman; his grandson Cole Hoefelman; and his siblings, Elnora Dunkin, Billy, Gerald, Russell, Wayland and Adrian Sumpter.
He is survived by: his children, Dean Sumpter (Lisa) of Moberly, MO, Tony Sumpter (Margene) of Ashland, MO and Lana Willingham (Eric) of Moberly, MO; and his brother Jackie Sumpter (Ruth). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
