He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Vater and Anna Mae Vater (Guest); and his siblings, E. J. Vater, Marietta Fugate and Kathy White.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Sue Widmer (Susie) of Salisbury; his children, Jan and Scott of Lee's Summit; and his sisters, Virginia Maag of Kirksville and Veronica Marek (Bob) of Salisbury. He is also survived by numerous family members and friends.
