He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Frank and Nora Atkins (Rackly); and his siblings, Steve Atkins and Shirley Atkins. He is survived by: his children, Michael Atkins (Melissa Johnson) of Anderson and Stephanie Schnelle (Scott) of Laurie, Missouri; his grandchildren, Madison Atkins, Samantha Oder (Brad Ford), Alex Oder (Ana), Miranda Smith (Sean), Whitley and Patience Schnelle; his great grandchildren, Ella, Eliza Smith and A. J. Oder; his nieces, Blakely Atkins and Rae Porter; and his nephew Tyler Atkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County Nutrition Site or to Milan Elks Lodge.
